I have a 8 3/4 with a 489 diff. I noticed a wheel bearing noise from the rear so i pull both shafts, the right side was bad. However there was no way to adjust the axle end play. My question is do all 8 3/4's have adjustable axle shaft flanges/nuts?

That depends on what type of wheel bearings your using. If they are the taper type then yes it is suppose to have adjuster. If it is the green sealed type bearing than no. Can you post a picture?

Thanks, was just some more research and they are Green Axle bearings. I appricate the input.

There seems to be a couple variations of green bearings. one has a snap ring on the bearing and the axle plate seats on the snap ring,, The other has the bearing pressed into the axle plate and the bearing has an O-ring,, Any suggestions on which one is better?
