Rear bump stops

Hello fellow FABO members!

I wanted to share my recent rear bump stop replacement on the Scamp. The originals were shot and it was long overdue to replace. I came across the Energy Suspension universal bump stops on this forum and decided to go that route vs OEM type as they appear to be higher quality. After removal of the original bump stops, I compared the 2 and they are nearly identical height, width, length as well centre to centre mounting dimensions. The mounting holes are slightly larger which worked out in my favour as I ended up using larger self threading body bolts because the original OEM hardware was too loose to use from years of abuse. See pics for reference and part number. I hope this can help someone else with their project.

I doubt that I have ever hit a bump stop, but if you think that you need new ones, those look good.

You have 100% hit your front bump stops. You probably hit them nearly every time you drive if you have factory torsion sized bars.

The rear bump stops? Probably never. If you look at most people’s exhaust pipes in that area there’s a better chance of the axle hitting the pipes than those rear bump stops

lol. If you say so. With the factory bars and bump stops at factory ride height the bump stops are in play pretty much all the time. They’re progressive because of their shape, so, you typically don’t notice that you’ve hit them unless you compress them completely or violently bottom the suspension. But they’re being used constantly. Heck I have 1.12” bars and a larger gap to my short poly bump stops than you get with the factory ride height and factory bump stops and I STILL hit mine more than “rarely”.

Put a dab of grease on them and go for a drive if you don’t believe me. If you do anything other than a granny drive around the block there’s gonna be grease transfer to the frame stop.

Crazy, literally the one part that doesnt look to exist in aftermarket parts. There is a million front bump stops for sale but cant find any rears unless Australian mopar.
