Rear Drums

I have a 74 Dart Swinger with a rear end out of a 74
Dart Sport.I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure
out which drums to use.I bought a new set of 10'' drums
and they don't seem to fit. I measured the shoes and they
seem to measure up at 10 and a half. Did they put 11''
drums on that year.The rear end seems to be an 8 and
a quarter. I never got any drums with the car.Any ideas
would be appreciated.

Does the backing plate measure the same as rear lip on the drum? If it does, back off on the star adjuster until the drum will slide on. The shoes may be adjusted out too far for the drum to go on. The only A bodies that I know of that got 11" rear brakes were the '76 cop cars. The rest were either 9"X2" or 10X2 1/2". Hope this helps.

I pulled the other tire off and the drum went right on
and fit good,but the shoes are worn out.
The adjuster is all the way in,and the drum
will not fit over the shoes. It seems the
new shoes have to much meat on them.
I was thinking about getting some 9'' shoes
and see if that will work.The shoes I have
are Jasper 013-0317-8.
