Hey All,
I'm looking for some guidance on what is the max Rear tire size or maybe, better yet, the preferred tire size for my setup. 73' Duster 360 (400HP- actually motor hasnt been torn down/built yet) 727 manual reverse pattern, 4.11's (8.75) with SS 002/003 springs in stock location. Car will be lightened a bit... Street Strip driven say 50/50 for now... What's a tire rim combo here to make it do a decent 1/4 mile, yet be street legal? I have a 4.5 on 5 pattern and looks like 5" backspacing. I'm thinking about a 15" x8" rear wheel. What diameter tires will put me thru the 1/4 mi. trap @ say 6500 rpm?

Thoughts, Comments and idea's are appreciated.

I'm running 255x60-15 on the back of my 71 Demon with 4 1/4" backspace rims and the springs are in stock position. I've got 3/4" clearance between the side walls and the springs and the side walls and the wheel well lip. Hope this helps.

Are you going to mini tub it? If not a 275-60-15 is about max.

With 4.11's and an auto trans with a 26" tire will put you @ 6500 rpm @ 116 mph. If you go 107 mph at the same 6500 you would only need a 24" tire.

You have to have the mph to really calculate tire size with a given rpm.

Your car is probably be a 95 - 100 mph car so with 4.11's your rpm is going to be about 5500 rpm with a 26" tire.
