Anyone have a walkthrough for rebuilding the bearings in the factory rear end of a 66 cuda? I think the bearings in my rear axle need a overhaul. Took it for a drive tonight and the back end was making a weird noise (migt have been the tires... putting new ones on in a couple weeks) but it probably is something that needs to be done anyways. :newb:

If your rear is a 7 1/4 check your axle bearings. Jack the rear wheels off the ground and set it up on jack stands. Start the car and put it in gear. Use a long screwdriver with the handle against your ear and the tip at each axle end and at the pinion you should be able to track down the offending bearing. If it is an axle bearing the axles are easy to pull. Bring it to a shop and have them do it.
