Hey guys:

I've been working on my '71 Valiant off and on over the past couple years and now I'm in the home stretch, but I have a brake question:

On this car, I swapped in a 318/904 and '73 V8 K-member along with the power disc brakes and power steering.

I'm working on the rear brakes currently, and there appear to be 2 different size wheel cylinders for the rear depending on what front brakes the car has. Well, mine HAD front drums, but now disc. But, it still has the original rear end and 9" drums.

So...do I buy wheel cylinders for a front drum or front disc car? My concern is that there could be a fitment issue on the backing plate if they are a different design.

Thanks!

There is only one wheel cylinder for the 9" drums. The wheel cylinders that fit 10", 11", and 12" drums do not fit 9" drums. If you have 9" drum brakes, you need to buy wheel cylinders for the 9" drum brakes.
