some 318's were red, early ones....but mainly 273's from the early 60's

pre 68 small blocks were red. 69s were turquoise 70-april of 71 were hemi orange april 71 and later were blue.
The oil cap and dipstick would have been painted on the motor which was pretty much assemble before being painted.. The trans dipstick I have no clue what is correct but Im pretty sure it would not be engine color.

these are from my 1972 dart.. the engine was blue but these parts were red..

some one painted them or replaced them with stuff of another motor

1968 318 amd 340s were red. The turquoise(blueish) 340 didn't start until 1969 (there are those with late 68's that would disagree). My factory 318 had a red dipstick, spring, and transmission tube/dipstick. I do have to ask why the tranny dipstick in installed in the bottom of the tube (see O-ring that goes into transmission). My guess someone took the dipsticks from a 68 or earlier engine.
