ok guys, the tank had surface rust all over the inside. it has been sitting outside in the back of a trailer for 2 years wide open, (thats how it got the rust) so no fumes to blow up. as for the jack, i wasnt under the truck, ive also had an engine block on the jack for weeks at a time without it dropping so im fairly confident it would stay up for an hour. if it did drop the truck would have stalled or at the worst run into the trees in front of it and then stalled. anyhow, today im going to rinse all the dust out and seal the tank. i figure im about $125 ahead than if id bought a new tank.

All I was saying was to save $125 it could have cost you a truck in the trees which would have been more than having your tank cleaned.
