I brought the timing down from 25 initial and 50 total to 18 initial and 38 total. The car ran great with the prior setting, but apparently whoever set it there was stupid. and i guess i'm kinda stupid for leaving it so long....
but the timing is the only change i made and went from a 1.8189 60', best 1/8 ET: 8.3719@82.25mph
to
1.8031 60 and 8.275 @81.84
AND.....there's more!!
the new best ET was on a .1-.2 SLOWER track than the previous best ET
so, on a track that ISN'T graded uphill, i should run about 8.10-8.12 with nothing other than a timing chage!!!!!!!!
now i just need to get around to tuning the carb, after i fix that pesky vibration.
