Ok I'm about to reinstall my original oil pump just with all new seals. It passed all the measurement tests in the Chrysler service manual. I'm just trying to get this 65 Valiant 170 running and moving so I'm trying to save money. The numbers on the pump read as follows: 2121678 on the body and 2465216 on the pump cover. The Plymouth service manual says to reinstall the cover after the pump body and shaft are back in the block. Does it matter? Do I need to put any oil inside it or grease? If I have to leave the cover off until I reinstall the pump it may all fall out. How do you'll do it? I'm not even going to paint the pump Chrysler red since I'm just trying to get it going. If I later have to pull the engine out for a rebuild I'll do all that but the engine ran good.
Reinstalling resealed oil pump, any instructions?
