Remove the Shifting Level from Column

I'm doing the same to the 68', putting a floor shifter and console in. She currently has the Auto shifter on the Column, so I was wondering how hard is to take the shifter out, or would it be better to just try and find a new power steering column without the shifter?

there is a roll pin keeping the shift arm in the column, remove that pin and the arm will come right out. should be easy to rem,ove as mine always wants to come out on its own and i push it back in with my finger.
