Removing gas tank door on 68 Cuda

May be a silly question to some of you but how do you remove the flip open gas tank door on a 68 cuda? Mine does not have normal slotted or Phillips screws but studs with 3 notches. Is a special tool required? or special trick?

Try a pair of smaller vice grips with sharp teeth.....should come out no problem.

If that does not work then try turning them out from the back with the vice grips.

There is a special tool for these, but you would have to order it from Snap-on or Mac. Pliers usually work, if you don't have rust issues. I would recommend putting it back on with phillips heads if you don't have the tool; although that makes it easier for someone to swipe it (but who would even think of that, these days?).
