Removing gas tank filler tube

Is it possible to remove the filler tube without dropping the tank? I need to mount it thru the fender so the gas cap fits correctly. Anyone know the steps involved? Thanks

Yes. Remove the screws holding it to the fender. Disconnect/detach vent tube from filler tube. Slide trunk pan seal up filler tube carefully. Put a little lube on filler pipe just before tank grommet and slide pipe into tank. Turn pipe to the side and it should just pull out. Check the tank grommet carefully for tears and replace if damaged (trust me on this one).

I think you are going to have to drop the tank. Does it have gas in it?
I would remove any screws holding the tube to the fender, remove the screws and slide the trunk floor seal up the tube a ways (you may have to lube it with some WD-40) and then drop the tank.

I got one from RPM here in Canada but Year One carries them and I believe they are still available from Dodge.
