Removing Heater Box

Has anyone removed the heater box entirely and replaced it with a simple universal hot rod heater ? I have a factory AC car that I plan on never fixing the AC. Now the heater core is leaking as well. I was thinking something like this just to knock the chill off and defrost the windows.

I did, 68 fastback form S car. mounted the aftermarket hotrod heater up under the center of the dash. you`ll have make brackets to hold it. the heater hoses took some coniving , due to the original hose holes having my fuel inj. harness routed thru them.
