repainting 64 barracuda interior doors

Has anyone had luck with repainting or refinishing the uppermost interior door area that is metal. I tried buffing the scratches out but still looks beat up. Door panels and arm rests are perfect and the upper metal area is detracting from the beautiful doors.

It's not hard, masking off and prep work is the worst!! If you use rattle cans it will work but wear off after time.
