Anything special to do when replacing a leaky seal on a 8 1/4 rear end? Does the new seal need any kind of sealer put on (outer edge) before driving it in place? Can I tap it or do I need to use a special tool to drive it evenly?

Also who sells new pinion nuts? Mine looks to be in sad shape.

Thanks.

Pack the inside of the seal with Vaseline or an equivalent petroleum based grease. Inside the seal lip is a garter spring. This will prevent the garter spring popping out unnoticed when you drive the seal in. A very thin film of silicone RTV on the outside diameter of the seal is also a good idea.

Great. Thanks...
