repop fender tags??

[GTS Registry]

I know there are a couple companies out there that reproduce fender tags. I have a guy buying a GTS that has a clear title, the body stampings all match, there is the VIN tag on the dash, and it has the number matching engine. BUT, it is a former race car so the fender tag is long gone.
He wants to restore the car, and he wants to have a fender tag. I know Galen offers this, but this GTS owner really doesn't want to go thru Galen (please, no Galen flaming here). Who are the other sources for repopping fender tags??? Are they legit?? Do they ask for proof the car is legal before they make a tag (which the GTS owner would prefer)??

Galen doesnt do his own tags, I believe he subs them out to TrimTags.

The problem is you will need a copy of the build sheet to get the tag made.

Urgh. This being a former race car, there is no trace of the OE interior either. His only hope is the dash and glove box have never been out of the car so there is hope it may be under there.

Thanks for the links, Adam. I'll pass them on. This is a "M" code 440 GTS that has been raced for most of its life. It even has the original number match 440 so the new owner wants to bring it back to stock.

That sucks. Theres a guy that sells them on ebay also. Seems shady though.
