[WANTED] Reposting: '63 Valiant driver's side heater/vent duct

My account was inadvertently disabled; recently restored, all of my posts to the group were lost, apparently with replies. So, I'm reposting here.

I did get a chance to review a reply where (I think) an offer was made of a replacement vent door, and it looked like it had an intact hinge. (@Dana67Dart perhaps?) I recently took some pix of my vent box, and it looks like that would fit the bill - but the box itself is damaged where the latch engages with it.

It looks like the hinge is held to the box by two screws or rivets - and if I removed those, I could rivet in a replacement. So yes, I'm interested in the door! (To those who advised regarding DMT gaskets - thanks much, I've already taken delivery!) But what to do about the broken box lip... Does anyone have a good pic of this area? My box seems to bulge outwards in that spot - was that to accomodate the swing of the latch?

Here is the door I have.

Is it the same shape as yours?

Mine is from a 67 Barracuda / dart. Should be the same for many years.


As for the housing...

It's a fiberglass like material you might be able use some plastic and cover it with fiberglass,

But I bet if you post an ad for the entire piece you'd get one on no time.

The door I have if you want it $10.00 plus shipping.

Hi Dana, that is indeed a generous offer - but unfortunately, it is a different shape than what is used on the '63 Valiant. Mine has a rounded corner. So I guess I *am* in the market for a complete working unit.

Do you recommend posting elsewhere, besides in this thread?

that explains the curved shape of the housing

create a wanted ad and look on Ebay etc.
