Has it been sitting on the shelf? If you been working the choke stat adjustment, might be part of the problem.Do you have it hooked up, to key on power?

the feul system is what ever came with the car theres a pro stock intake no engine mods that i know of bearings and crank replaced in the last five years oem

Needs to be done by a old school guy. What intake,do you have?Pictures, would solve this absolutley!

Did a little research and only thing i came up with is a reference to Jeep and AMC 360/401 stuff. Not sure if it was OEM on anything, but kinda looks that way? I have a feeling it's a single feed, vacuum secondary 600cfm ish type carb. If this is for your 340 i think you could do better, but that carb should be able to run decent for now. May need a rebuild and i agree, pictures would help to identify what it really is.

i found the upload tools here are the best pics i could take not bad for the camera that has a phone attached

Rebuild it if you were not to far I could do it with my eyes closed ,I love holleys.you do need it running to set the floats.if you remove the site plug and fuel pours out its to high needle and seat set wrong or dirt is holding it open, also if the rear has no fuel wrong adjustment or your transfer tube is block no allowing fuel to get to the bowl.our old friend Strockerscamp did a how to on rebuilding a 600 read through and you will get the jest of it.

replaced holly with a carter 650 ran perfect for 3 / 4 days then the underlying problem showed its self was dirt and old gas slime from tank I tore down carter carb and cleaned it out put filter in front of carb has been running fine ever since thank you everybody for your help

Did you drop the tank to clean it out?

Holleys don't run well with dirt in them either. Not a carb problem from the start if you were to ask me.
