ok i wasn't very sure where to post this so if it needs to be moved moderators please do so......now first off this is not going to be something everyone is going to run out and do, nor is it something that everyone is going to be intrested in doing. i am posting this for information purposes. this is also a well deserved plug for really great work. now if you are into a full blown restoration then this is a must do! my rimblow was in pretty good shape but had the usual cracks and splits. the forks were in really good shape. i was missing the rimblow switch all together. i has a 1/2 inch crack at the 12:00 oclock position, a quarter $.25 thickness crack at 4:00 oclock and another quarter $.25 thickness crack at about 7:00 oclock. the black on the back was heat cracked and chipped in a couple of places. the chrome insert around the outside was non almost existant. that is pretty much my starting point. well i sent my wheel to Doug Lepak aka the "steering wheel guy" to be restored. it took about 5 weeks to be done. he had to redue all the graining by hand as well as the finger joints. it is a lengthy process far too much to list. it has about 10 coats of clear on it and it is also uv protected. if you are intrested in this type of thing the results speak for themselves. in carlisle i spoke to and saw some "other" restoration work done, and this wheel makes the other guys restored wheel look as if it needed to be still restored! again do not be fooled. this is not a cheap item to restore. Doug is located in Canada. here is his website if you are in the market....http://members.shaw.ca/stwheels/index.htm or..... http://drive.to/stwheels
