My question is what ring gear do i run with my set up. i have a 340 edelbrock rpm heads,470-270 cam, torker intake, 750 carb, 727 / 3500 stall converter. dart will mostly be run on the street, no dragstrip racing. i have an 8.25 rear , and to run 3.90 or 4.10. i think that would make a good street runner, so which gear would be best . i'm leaning toward the 3.90. please help.8)

If you're consistantly on the street I'd stick with the 3.90 but if you do any highway driving I'd go 3.55 as the 3.90 will be around 3000 RPM at 60 MPH. Wouldn't go any lower than that with that stall converter.

As mentioned,if you do any highway driving you will get sick of the 3.90 "REAL" quick.

Some believe the 3.23 to be one of the best all around gears.Best of both worlds.

Would be hard to go wrong with a 3.55.

You didnt mention anything about tire size.Looks like you have around a 205/70-14 ?

3.55's are what you want

you will run out of rpm before you run out of quarter mile with 3.91's or more.

i' m looking to run 275/60-15. currently it as 3.21 open gears. i'm looking to put gears & posi in it to give it a good stop light to stop light romp.

if you want to run 3.91's add more cam!

looking at the parts list, the cam does not fit right!
this fits right!:
.550" lift w/235 dur @ .050" lift and 3.91's!!!!

and go with a flat tappet solid!!!
