RIP! AG.....A motorsports icon that lived a rewarding full life. He will be missed. Condolences to the Granatelli family.

I was lucky to get to meet the big guy once and had a nice chat with him. For a Mopar connection in'69 he ran an Indy car with a small block Mopar and they won a race with it, too bad it didn't run too well at Indy. Of course he also sponsored Richard Petty starting in '72.
WhenI got to talk to him he had just flown across country and seemed well just tired, really beat. Still he was very gratuitous. I had a book with me that he had not seen about some of the Indy cars he ran and sponsored in the 60s, when I showed it to him he lit up and we went thru this book and he had some great stories and insight about what it was like back then. He was very willing to speak his opinion about some of the personalities from back then. I gave him my book, he was very appreciative and ended up mailing me a signed copy of his book "Mr 500".
