Rocker Retainer clip location 318

I picked up a early 71-72
318 LA engine both of the rocker arm assembly are off the heads , the shafts ,rocker arms , bolt and retainer clips came with engine .the retainer clips very in length can someone tell where the retainer clip should go so rocker arms will be aligned correctly.a picture would be very helpful .thank you
