Can I use a rod bearing with a dowel hole on a standard rod/cap assembly, or is that going to be trouble? Clevite CB-527HND

Dowel hole bearing is for an aluminum rod. You can use it as long as it has the tang on the end to seat in the rod and cap to prevent spin. Why not get the bearings you need?

I have a set of 527HND's on the shelf, and they do have tangs. I guess to be safe I should get a set of 527P's.

You can use them. The tang doesn’t do anything but line the bearing up side to side. The crush between the bearing shell half’s keeps them from turning.

Thanks. I was concerned about the unused dowel hole on the bearing half.
