Sox & Martin - 1968 BO29 Race Hemi Barracuda

Here is Sox & Martin's 'First' Drag Test with the Race Hemi Barracuda.

The NHRA had not yet sanctioned these cars yet for SS/B Class.

Ronnie Sox took the 'First' Race Hemi 4-Speed through it's initial testing
after the Team had completed it's prepping.

Result............ 10.59

Sox & Martin,

Received the 'first' 1968 BO29 Race Hemi Barracuda in March 1968.

A few weeks later {after preparation}, they brought it up to Cecil County Drag-O-Way
in early-April 1968 for it's initial 'test runs' in front of Chrysler Racing {Dick Maxwell and Associates}.

After hitting several 10.60's, with a best of 10.59 - Ronnie Sox was told -
'Hold it right there, and don't go any lower'.

The Reason

Chrysler Racing had an earlier meeting with the NHRA in February 1968, and it was agreed that
the NHRA would set the SS/B 'Index' at 10.90 for the 'new' 1968 A-Body Race Hemi's.

The last thing Chrysler Racing wanted, was information getting back to the NHRA that Ronnie Sox
could drop down into the 10.40's during the Barracuda's initial test runs.
