Roof Rail Trim

Guys, Is the trim roof rail trim from cars with a vinyl top than with out. We are doing a duster and I was prefitting the trim and it is way loose without the vinyl. Do I need different parts or what do people do.

different parts numbers from the factory. You should be able to gently close up with pliers
