anyone ever replace the top on their dart? mine is a 71 2 dr the chrysler muscle car parts interchange book says 70-72 dart is the same. my question is this: if that is correct, why is a 1 pc headliner not listed for a 71? tia

All the 2 door hardtops are the same, more or less. I have a '74 roof skin to replace the one my bronze '71 GT.
There were minor changes in the under structure, but the overall dimensions are the same. The later cars for example don't have the mounts for the roof bows needed to mount the early style headliner.
As for why there isn't a 1 piece headliner listed for a '71, it's just because they never came with one, not because one won't fit. Any of the 1 piece headliners for a hardtop Dart will fit a '72 down car. You'd have to sort out the sail panels, but that's it.

Sail panels are pretty easy actually. When I converted my ‘74 Duster over to the earlier metal quarter window surrounds I made ABS panels to cover the rear of the sail panel area left by the 1 piece ABS headliner
