so, I'm having a 3200 stall converter build for the duster
and that got me thinking

(I couldn't find any clear number on RPM drop at shift, so excuse the guesswork)

if I shift at 5600 RMP (about the redline on my engine) I will drop down ABOVE the converters stall
but what if I stomp on it, and shift earlier?
lets say at 5K
would that drop me below stall?
and would that hurt the converter, of will it just act like I stomp on it in 1st?

It should act just like you stomped on it in first, and drop only to the flash speed of the converter.

Joe

BTW there was a recent thread about 833 gear sets, and there is great info on shift RPM drop and stuff. Very informative even for us auto guys.

No it wouldn't be hard on the converter, you'll just make some extra heat "cruising" it so make sure it's well cooled.
