63 dart stock car. I am thinking of blocking the VB to keep it from upshifting to 3rd/stay in 2nd gear for 4.68 final ratio with a set of 3.23 8&3/4 gears. can I just block the one rod to keep it from effecting a 2 to 3 upshift? any downsides? thank you for your time. RR

Manual valve body is excellent for a racing vehicle. Any gear any time. I run mine with a stock column shifter so I can move it anywhere anytime, no ratchet or lockout BS.

Just leave the gear shifter in 2. I've never known a Torqueflite to shift by itself.

You should be using 6,50 to 6.66 for Eagle with an open motor. Where are you running 4.68 at?

^^^ just math on paper so far (3.23 X 1.45). still having problems with the axles inserting into a bare 8&3/4 housing (sometimes they go in somewhat easy sometimes not at all. Dr diff is helping me on a seperate issue that the axle ends are butting together in a bare housing. its looking like the shop may have located the retainer collar wrong along the length when they installed em. I need to do more measuring. RR

6.5 ÷ 1.45 = 4.48 and 6.66 ÷ 1.45 = 4.59. I don't think it's likely you will find those gears lying around cheap. I get that we all love our mopar parts and it may be what you already own but, the industry standard is a Ford 9" . No other rear end compares in options and availability in circle track racing. Your class rules allow rear disc brakes and a floater for safety reasons. I hope you take advantage of that. There are used rear ends available ( just make sure it’s straight). The Mopar rear end parts you have are worth something. You could sell some of those parts to offset the cost. Plus some of these mopar parts are getting hard to find and let's face it circle track racing ruins a lot of good parts. If you decide to get out of racing the Ford 9" will still have some value. These are just my thoughts you may have perfectly good reasons for your approach that I am unaware of. Don't feel like you need to justify it to me. You do you. Good luck with your project!

Hello Dave! actually I have a furd 9" sitting outside. how rusted it is I dont know but it is modded to A body width perches (maybe length too) & iirc had 4 or 5 something ratio & would need to be cleaned/derusted
