Hey guys just wanna ask of you guys have a recommendation for a rv cam. Got a little 318 and I'd like to give it a little lope. Also what do you guys recommend doing as far as intake manifold and carb? I'm gonna clean up the heads and probably port them to breath better. Engine is from a 72 Dodge Dart bone stock right now

Can't comment on the cam but I think most might suggest a LD4B manifold (or the modern Weiand stealth equivalent) and a 600cfm carb. I've acquired the parts to upgrade to a 4bbl on my 318 and will be doing the work later this summer. Make sure to also upgrade to a dual exhaust.

I wouldnt bother porting the heads if all you are putting is an rv cam. Typically rv cams are designed for low rpm torque and do not have the high lift ,long duration and overlap that a high rpm cam has. It is these characteristics that make an engine lope. Porting the heads will not do much at these low rpm levels. Not saying anything bad about an rv cam at all just not sure it will do what you are asking. As far as a good 4 barrel manifold at this level the standard Edelbrock Performer works ok. An old LD4B is better. Edelbrock 600 carb is a good bolt on and forget carburetor. Basically a Carter AFB

Please read through 318willrun's thread about a low budget 318 hop up. Talking about an RV cam and blueprint and balancing and those kinds of terms are generally terms used in old school kind of talk. You're doing the right thing though asking a lot of questions, but again that thread that 318willrun is just doing and you'll get plenty of information there.

i think the for sale section has a 204 / 420 cam and lifter set right now at a bargain price that should be a good fit....

As mentioned above an RV type cam is generally just a little larger than a stock cam and will not provide a "lopey" idle. Every one I've installed idled like a stock cam. The Hughes Engines whiplash cam RustyRatRod suggested is a better choice since you want it to sound lopey yet stay with a cam that wont need a bunch of other upgrades to work properly. Porting the heads will not give you enough gain to be worth the effort IMO. That is a low compression engine and IMO shaving the heads .030" and running thin head gaskets to raise the compression a little will produce more power than porting the heads for a lot less effort. If you shave .030 off the block side of the heads make sure and shave .025" off the intake side so the intake will line up properly.

A warmed up 318 with a lope huh?

Cam;
Whiplash cam
Intake;
OE iron, Weiand Action Plus, Edel. Performer or LD4B.
Carb;
600-650
Headers into a 2-1/2 exhaust.
Jegs/Summit have kits.
An example of the Summit kit is the recommended use of Hooker headers and there exhaust kit. It comes with mufflers that sound good and beefy.
