Safety latch question

Have a 68 Dart. Installing the safety AKA head banger latch. Not sure if it's bent or the wrong one.
I appreciate comments. On which way to go.

I would guess that it's the wrong one. If you straighten it, it will stick out even more past the hood. They are normally "hidden".
