I'm near Chicago and have to say HAHA! I love it
You guys down south can HAVE all the snow you can get
I love seeing it somewhere else
They said yesterday that Chicago official reporting station which is O'Hare airport has had an inch here, 2" there so far this year. Totaling about 10-11" for the season so far.. to hear someplace like new Orleans got a foot in one shot? Absolutely hilarious.

Unless you live there.

You southeeners can send your snow up here . We need some .
Friggin temps are staying to high for our hockey pond to freeze ! Urgh ..
Last year we had to play boot hockey @ the Stanley Id Pond Hockey tournament. Stanley is over 5000’ and usually one of the coldest towns in the lower 48 along with International Falls MN . That was in January ! This years tournament is next week .
I am praying for below zero ! Lol
What he said!

Setting aside the pond hockey mentions, there's been talk on the radio that we're starting to go into a snow drought here. (Yeah, that's a "thing" for y'all down South.) A snow drought. In Minnesota.

And cold, while good for pond hockey, doesn't do us much good, as a lot of rural people rely on a layer of snow as insulation for their septic systems so they don't freeze. No snow= more chance of a frozen septic system, and that ain't good.

Yeah, we need the snow.

Now, as for pond hockey, up until 2013/2014 I used to skate with some buddies in the annual pond hockey tournament in Mpls, but I gave it up when my ankles and feet couldn't take the beating from the rough ice anymore. Never knew what the weather was going to be like: -10*, or +35*, and it was always different. But always lots of fun! And I miss it.

Newfoundland what beautiful province and great people . Did i happen to meet you at the Brudenell car show on PEI a few years ago ?

I thought the whole climate change things was supposed to be global WARMING
I guess they don't know warm from cold

@Mtrhead Our place in Myrtle Beach got 5" lol. Looks like the worst of it went below y'all. I just hope the roof of our old tin condo didn't collapse! We got a dusting here in the mountains of WNC the other day, but it's gone now.

They changed Global Warming to Climate change a few years ago when the BIG worldwide Global Warming conference that was somewhere in Europe got cancelled du to a massive Blizzard. They took so much heat over that that they changed the name.
I'm sure they will spin it somehow :realcrazy:
They blame every weather event on Climate Change/Global Warming. More hurricanes than normal is due to Climate change, fewer hurricanes than normal is due to Climate Change. Same with snow, rain, tornadoes, you name it. Deep down, this climate change stuff is just an excuse to eventually hit us with a carbon tax. They have been paying a carbon tax in England for years, and the environment is the same.

Not to debate this but in Boise we have a mini testbed of climate change. In the winter 20+ years back every one used wood stove because our economy was depressed. We got months long inversions and it would be 10 degrees in town and clear skies/40 on the ski hill @ 7000 ft . Few people use wood stoves now and cars burn cleaner so our inversion only last a few days. But with massive growth I am now seeing a haze over the valley even in the summers. I think that kinda shows that we do have an effect . Not sure how else to explain it ?

I remember when I was in high school they were telling us by the year 2000 we will have no fossil fuels left at the rate we were using them. They also said we were headed for a second ice age. IDK but we have fuel and it still gets hot in the summer.

Weather changes it always has and always will and it changing is not a sign of anything. We are probably due for another ice age anyway, maybe we should start a snowmobile site and be ahead of the curve.

Has all this snow come about since Trump became empowered? LOL. Cause now he can trump anything and everything. LOL. Kim. Mods, if this isn’t appropriate please delete it.
It’s called climate change

I think it’s interesting that the southern snow (& our dry January in the PNW) doesn’t even fit the La Niña narrative.

I live at 2800' in the mountains of Western NC. We can get some deep snows when all of the supposed Gorbal Warming stars line up. In March of 93, I had 3 feet of snow in my front yard when the blizzard hit. It amounted to a hurricane with snow. First time I ever experienced thunder snow! Normal old snow storms give us close to a foot, maybe more every few years. Amounts vary from year to year. Sometimes we'll get 2 or 3 substantial snows, then other years we may get nothing but flurries a few times. The snow that fell in SC was very rare. We didn't get diddly squat here in WNC, but at the ocean front campground where our permanent spot is with our little tin condo....they got 5" of snow.
