Looking through the lost/found thread got me wondering if my brothers 340 sitting in my garage is one that somebody is looking for. I haven't really dealt with the later stuff that has a matching number for car and engine, so where do I find these numbers on the engine. Brother has given me the engine a couple times, but it is one of those things that if I ever take him up on the offer, I will never hear the end of it.
Thanks
Aaron

Pass. Side of block. Flat machined area above the oil pan rail below the motor mount. Please post the vin on here.

1968 block might not have it stamped there, I believe they stamped them on the top rear of the block.

In 1969 they started above the oil pan rail.

Look here,mrmopartech

The VIN isn't on the front below dr head surface. Build info is there; yr, plant, size, fuel, 10000 date and unit # Yes... not the VIN. None of the info on the front will address a particular car it came from.

Bellhousing flange for model year 68 or the machined pad as mentioned earlier for 69+ engines
