Science Project with torsion bar

Okay,
my college aged son is doing a science project to develop a swinging baseball bat with a torsion bar type of energy source.

Obviously, a mopar torsion bar is going to be way to stiff to twist. I was thinking about a torsion bar arrangement from a trunk lid or something.

Anybody have any ideas of what might work, what type of car, etc.

the 75-77 chargers and cordobas use skinny torsion bars instead of hood springs, and older b bodies use them for trunk springs

I would think you could use trunk springs from an a body.

Actually,
my first thought was from an A-body. I wanted to see what others might suggest.
