Scratched Rod Journal

Dam, I think I lightly scratched a rod journal taking the rod in and out for side clearance. My own fault. Am I screwed? Any fix, or do I take the crank back out. I had so much accomplished, now this sucks! :sad:

If it's a light scratch you could polish it out with very
fine emery cloth.

I think you can put rubber hose over the rod studs when you pop them in and out and it will save those journals.

Depends how deep the scratch is. In all likely hood you can dress it starting with some 500 grid emery and finishing with 700. You may not have to get the scratch totally out but you diffeniately want to get rid of any high spots around the boundary of the scratch otherwise it'll tear up a bearing.
