What has everyone had luck with while sealing their water pump? just gasket and torque? or do you use rtv? Thanks - SCRAG

Check faces for flat then a thin film of High Temp silicone on both sides of gasket then after torquing leave her alone for 24 hrs.

I use Right Stuff is a black rtv that sets up pretty quick. They advertise that you can add liquids right away but I usually wait about an hour then you can do what ever you want. It works awsome.

Apply a skin of rtv, or just spry the gasket with copper coat, install, then fill it and fire it right then if you want to, I do ..and have never had an issue.

I do the same with intake gasket as well, no problems.

maybe Im lucky, but that luck has lasted over 10 years..

The good thick Fel-Pro blue gaskets I don't put anything on if the surfaces are good. Otherwise I put a thin coat on both sides. Also don't forget to put sealer on the long bolts if it's a small block. They are not blind holes. Plus good quality bolts too.

Thanks everyone for the similar yet different ideas, i will definitely try them out....hopefully the first one will work haha.
