I was wondering if anyone that has an a body here has went through and seam welded all the areas that were spot welded in their car. What kind of difference did you notice, and how is it in comparison to adding a roll cage? Was there a considerable difference in stiffness? Also, are there any areas I wouldn't want to do this to? Looking to do it to my car before it goes in for paint and wanted opinions.

If you're trying to stiffen the body, welding the seams solid would have little affect in my opinion. Instead, consider installing frame connectors - a lot less work and much more effective.

to make any difference at all you'd have to weld every seam, all over....frame rails, floors, inner fenders, etc. probably a couple hundred feet of weld....yuck! even then it wouldnt make much of a difference. much more effective and a great deal less time consuming and expensive would be as 70Duster440 suggested, frame connectors welded in fully.
