Seems like a waste of a 273 to sell some snake oil

Didn't Carroll Shelby do commericals for Prolong before Z Max?

I like the other one where they pour cement all over the engine with the valve covers off. I think if it was a chevy it would have been dead.

Hmmm, I remember those commercials in the 90's.
It's funny though that they used a 273.
When I rebuilt the front end of the Valiant I pulled the oil pan off the 273 and dropped the oilpump and pickup. The pickup was full...and I mean FULL....of pine needles, small rocks, and chunks of valve stem seals. There were even exterior trim nuts in the valley under the intake!! Keep in mind I drove it like this from Feb 2011 till Aug of 2012!
Don't really think it was the Pro Long...just think it's the durability and toughness of the 273.
My friend who helped me do the front couldn't believe and still can't believe that 7 months later of discovering all that in the pickup that the thing is still alive!! He's deemed it indestructable....he's mostly a Ford guy too. LOL

Does anyone remember the one they did with the slant 6? Had the same theme to it, they ran some brand of snake oil through it, drained the oil, then blasted it with a fire hose while running it at 3k rpm with the valve cover removed.

Yeah, I saw that one. It was crazy to watch, but if you aren't planning on ever using that engine in a car again, I guess that you can pour anything on it and claim immunity.
