Will a Torque converter with a stall Range of 2400 to 2800 work well with a purple shaft 474 lift cam that has a basic operating range of 2000 to 6000. 355 gears. The motor is a 340 with 10.5 to 1 pistons with 2.02 int valves and 1.60 exh valves X heads. And 14 inch rims. This is for 68 Dart GT conv, car will be used for street and highway.

They will probably want more details of your entire build.

Contact a reputable torque convertor specialist who can suggest the stall you need for your build. They will need all the information about the build, including the specs on your drive train. Convertor building has come a long way in the last 10 years, take advantage of the builders knowledge.

You'd probably be better off with a higher stall for that combination. Purpose of the car and weight would help. I run a 4500 stall in my Duster with a similar combination, but only a 1/4 mile at a time. 65'

Your question is really meant for a torque converter / transmission business.

he can assist.

That cam will make your car feel sluggish with a stock 340 converter; often they were looser rated than the numbers you shared. Talk to some experts about getting a good one made. (Or you could use Rhoads lifters on that cam with a 340-style converter. That will help it immensely. )

If my memory serves me right, the factory converter in my Duster stalled at around 2300/2400. But with that being said, it might be a wise move to contact one of the reputable converter builders and see what they say. Make sure you give them ALL THE CORRECT information on what you've done to the engine, tire size, diff ratio and what you intend to do most of the time with the car. Be honest with them. Most of them will have a spec sheet on their website. Something else to keep in mind, just because the whiz-bang 3500 fireball works like a charm in my car, doesn't mean much, unless our cars are identical, and avoid used converters period. Used converters are only good for two things, a core, and a door stop. JMHO.

2800 stall will be good for a street driver with that cam , my son has that cam in a 318 withh that stall , 904 trans . drives 60 miles to track runs 13.5 consistantly .

Masters kit is in 727 and just waiting for stall. Thanks for the answer calrobb2000
