Ok, I have the trans out and I am trying to put this flywheel shield in. But it won’t fit it hits the firewall and there isn’t enough clearance. The only way this thing will fit is if I cut it in half. How have you gotten these damn things in?

My experience may be with a different part/setup but I will share it.

I installed a 727 SFI trans shield and to make it fit in my abody I had to bang the trans tunnel a little and cut a piece out one of one side of the top section where it bolted to the steel plate that connects the top and bottom sections.

I had to modify quite a few things to build my bracket car.

I have a 68 dart with a 727 and I use that same shield. Unfortunately the only way to install it is to modify your transmission tunnel. Any modification to the shield will void it.

Here’s where you start….. I did this when my small block 727 CSR shield hit in the middle.
