There are all kinds of reverse manual valve body kits for your 72 904.
All 1968 and newer valve bodies controlling non lock-up transmissions are mostly interchangeable.

Yes, 904 & most 727 valve bodies are interchangeable with only subtle differences if any. You can use a shift kit for your model year 904/727 wether V8 or 6cyl. Same goes for manual vb.
