I got these here recently off eBay one has a heavy duty sticker and one doesn't. Aftermarket NOS, but the stuff has tried coming out.

Will be testing soon.

What's the best way to clean that stuff off anybody know?

Not off to a good start there.
One would think...but these weren't ever used....makes me wonder if the chemical compound wasn't right before they poured it. I've seen worse older boxes that were way worse than this and they still work. I got one Mopar one that is from the 80's that came on/off my RC when it was new(I think) that is way bad/nasty/worst looking on the back and still works. I'll be doing a short video of it(them) on my run stand that has an early short deck Dodge Hemi on here soon I hope with all these being tested.

Ok, not sure about that one. Will you test them by running them?
Or using a Square Wave monitor?
I would also trust Ray with any questionable secondary electronics. @halifaxhops.

I have six NOS Standard LX101 from the early to mid 80s based on the Transistor Dates and Original Boxes Made In The USA with QR Dates

Some are 5 pin , some are 4 pin

Two of them same as yours pictured , the directions stuck to the black epoxy compound right in the box

Many threads on these running just fine with the compound dripping down the firewall - Factory Chrysler - Aftermarket

Some of stated they are getting ready to fail or getting hot from grounds / ohms / resistance

My answer , explain brand new in the box never installed and leaking

Bottom Line - Age Age Age / Heat Humidity / Failing compound

I have used a heat gun , scrape - But of course you have to risk the main board

I've noticed that stuff in the back coming out of working Ford boxes also...my brother is a big Ford buff.
