I just received a Sirius radio receiver from my wife for our anniversary and was wondering if anyone here is a subscriber. I have a few questions.

I know it sounds crazy to pay $150 a year to listen to the radio, but I never thought I'd be paying over $1,200 a year for cable TV/internet service either! Besides, commercial radio absolutely blows..... :puker:

Boss Vega has XM radio. He takes it every were. Car, The garage and his work truck.

A guy I work with has XM also from what I have seen its the bomb! Like you said radio with out comercials is great. Plus a lot of the channels they don't sensor the naughty songs.

Never mind the naughty songs, I'm sick of the repetitive programming all stations play. How many times in one week should LocoMotive Breath by Tull be played? Or some lame Blink 182 song? Or worst, Jett? Radio sucks.... no one has the stones to play progressive set lists. And forget about all the DJ's that because they have a microphone think their entertaining.....

Thats a trick question. That song should never be played. Sirus will have Stern next year. :thumleft:

Theres some good metal stations for you to listen to I bet also.

I plan on having the home docking station connected to my stereo at work by 8:00am tomorrow morning. I have a 120W Onkyo receiver w/ a Sony single disc player and some decent speakers on either end of my toolbox. I'm just sick of constantly flipping CD's. This way if I'm up to my elbows in something the music plays on....

Get a DVD burner John. I have a TV and a DVD player out in my garage hooked up to a JVC mini stereo system. I have 1 DVD with 53 albums on it , and another with 0ver 1200 songs. In mp3 format of course, I can stick it in and listen to that DVD for a week and not hear the same song twice. I got all those Albums off of the IRC channels, downloading MP3's is not illegal here yet :D fastback383.

Another cool thing about satelilte radio is you can hear bands you would not have heard listening to regular radio. But sometimes thats a good ting and sometimes a bad depending if the band is any good.

I do this also. Much cheapper than a mutli disk changer! If I tried I could probably get all my and my lil woman's music onto a couple of dvd's. But normally I just have a couple of mixed ones to play.

Here they aren't busting people yet for downloading off of IRC or newsgroups.

I was going to go the MP3 route too, but I still have to burn the songs, which means I'd have to HAVE the CD's or access to them. Which means hearing what I have already heard again. And again. And again. With the satellite system I'll hear new stuff. Besides, all this crap is on a bench next to my toolbox in a dealership garage. As it is I'll have to lock up the docking station & receiver at night so a dirtbag doesn't *borrow* it.... :x

In the car it works fine. In the office and home I listen on line. Like now as I'm typing away. One problem you go from no choices to too
many choices. :thumrigh:

John just know that there is no such thing as a station that does not repete music eventually.

I know music will eventually repeat, but come on. You get 104.3 out in Jersey? These stool-samples play the SAME FRIGGEN SONGS all week. It's almost as if they borrowed the damn CD's and have to get as much use as possible out of `em! I alternately listen to WBGO out of Newark when I'm in a vintage Jazz mood, or WFUV out of Fordham University when I want the bizzarre & obscure. If Sirius is anything like the digital music channels I get with my cable TV service I should be a happy boy.

Nothing worst than hearing Fleetwood Mac after a Rush song, preceeded by the Beatles. I wonder if the programming directors use a dart board?

Satelite radio is way better than the music channels you get with digital cable. Way better selection of channels to pick from!
