Six Pack and Hood

Is it required to to make a six pack fit to have a scoop in the hood?

The reason I ask is when I start work on my '70 Duster I want to up it to a 340 but use the original hood, hopefully without modifying it.
 
if this helps i just measured my small block six pack manifold and carbs. Its about 9 1/4- 9 1/2 inches from the bottom most part of the manifold to the part of the carbs where the air cleaner would sit.
 
Let me do some searching, I asked a similar question, but for my 69 cuda and the answer was no, you dont have to cut the hood. I will find the thread and post.
