My 1972 D100 doesn't want to start now unless I pour some fuel down the carb first. Then once started, it runs fine. Cant figure out the issue and I am new to this Holley carbed slant-6, never had one before. Any ideas?

Sounds like your automatic choke is not functioning. With the engine cold and not running, when you step on the gas the choke plate should snap shut. If it does not, the choke thermostat (bolted atop #4 exhaust manifold runner) is probably faulty. Carburetor operation and repair manuals and links to training movies and carb repair/modification threads are posted here for free download. Tune-up parts and technique suggestions in this thread. Choke adjustment info is here.
