I was looking over my 64 Dart 225 slant 6 today, because I noticed a 190 degree reading on my gauge after installing the correct 180 degree thermostat. The radiator is clean as a whistle after flushing and topping it off with 50/50 mix. I noticed my radiator is 22 inches wide on the core, and the fan seems to not cover 1/3 of the radiator. The timing is set dead on. Should I consider finding a larger mechanical fan? If so, will a v-8 fan fit to give me the stock look, or should I go for an aftermarket flex fan? Part numbers and or sources would be helpful.

I'd say it's real close to being normal. The temperature gauges are not that accurate. These 6- bangers generally do not run hot even with no fan shroud or clutch on the fan. If it's not running real hot I'd say leave it alone and keep it simple.

One more thing.... do a pressure test and see if it holds. Also test the cap and/or replace it if it does not hold pressure.

190 is fine. Everything is doing it's job.
