slant 6 trans question

-
Umm, all I know is the bellhousing for a /6 904 is different for a SB 904. So you can't use a /6 904 on a SB. As for the internals, I really have no idea.

/6 only has 904 and only fit /6. all internals are same same. accept for torque conv. has a different stall.

Also, a few(not sure how many) 'heavy duty' vehicles, namely taxi package cars came with 727's. They used a small-block bellhousing with an adapter plate between the bellhousing and engine.

The internals depend on which version of the small block 904 you're talking about. Stock slant six 904s had three front clutch plates and discs, two rear clutch plates, and three rear clutch discs. 273s and 318s often used the same internals as the slant six version. Some 318s had a version called the A-998 with more clutches and plates, and there's an even beefier version called the A-999 that came out in 1974 and came behind 360s. You can put A-998 or A-999 internals in a slant six 904 case, though.

from everything i have read and seen
slant to slants, small bocks to small blocks, and big blocks to big blocks.
there are adapters of course
