A couple questions on a stock slant 1bbl carb... How much is a core (unknown condition been sitting for a while) worth? How hard is it to rebuild...not for you...for me, someone who has never had one apart, and how much is a rebuild kit? How much is a running rebuilt worth? Btw if it matters it's 74' 225. Also think I've read that there are different brands avail?Thanks

I bought four Carter BBS cores recently for $10-$15 each. Most have worn out throttle shaft bores. Rebuild kits are $20-$35 each. Re-bushing the throttle shafts is $50 each or so, or buy the tools and do it yourself. Properly rebuilt carbs with a guarantee sell for roughly $120-130 on ebay.

Easy to rebuild if you pay attention to all the little parts, and are careful.
