They have projected only 1.15 million pink salmon returning this year due to poor conditions in 2015. I caught this last weekend on my third trip. I lost a nice one yesterday, he swam right into a huge piece of kelp and that's all I got to reel in after he did that! Also the Silver salmon are usually mixing in by the end of August, haven't seen one hit the beach yet, season closes Sept. 4.

They are fun to fight. Humpy, or pink salmon are a smaller salmon, usually 3-5 pounds. Biggest one I've caught was 8 or so. They are best smoked although if you gut them and get them on ice right away they can go on the bbq. The wife made salmon fritters out of this one, okay but I like em smoked better.

Yes smoker is best to me also
I have an old pottery Kamado smoker found at a estate sale, like this one

I have never seen a smoker like that, it doesn't look electric? Does it have layered racks or just a single?

Single rack small fine for me, no power just wood chips. The date on mine 1957 so its pretty old lol

Well that will work, I'm sure that design is very efficient, just keep the fire and smoke going! I like that smoker, kinda reminds me of a mini Green Egg.
