Hi , I recently put a 66 Barracuda together , after running her for about 200 miles , I noticed a condensation coming out of the breather cap of the tappet cover . After lifting the cover off , discovered a white sludge ( water oil mix ) . See photo. Cleaned it up , ran without tappet cover for a duration, could only see oil on the rockets no water anywhere . So I have condensation ( steam) occurring , turning into water ( condensation ).
The oil dip stick shows no water in the sump . Any suggestions before removing the head ?

Re-torque the cylinder head bolts.

Do a cooling system pressure test to see if it's loosing pressure.

Can take your compression tester hose and pressurize one cylinder at a time, see if it is bubbling back through at the radiator? Would help to diagnose one cylinder at a time in case you hit a pin hole in the cylinder wall from a recent bore job.

Pull the spark plugs in order and see if one is burning different than the others? Steam Cleaned...

Check the tail pipe to see if you have any moisture coming out there?

Like on a v8 you can get coolant in the oil from the intake manifold end coolant ports leaking into the lifter valley down into the oil pan.

Can pull the oil pan drain plug for a couple seconds, drain into a pan > coolant (water) goes to the pan bottom and will come out first.

Can cut the oil filter open to see if any water is in there.

Lots of things to check before pulling a head.

Could give the white foam the taste test and see if it is sweet like anti-freeze.

Oil and filter change, give it a go again. Cook it out and see if problem still persists.

Could be water in the oil but it could be condensation as well. Best thing to do is do a fresh oil change and drive it a while then pull the valve cover back off and inspect.

Is the PCV system working proberly? That is usually the main cause of condension in the valve cover. Make sure the gasket under the carb is installed corectly. If a one barrel there is a 1/4 inch hole in the gasket that must be in the correct location. Also a lot of time the matching port in the carb is plugged up.
Also check the intake and timing cover water ports for leakage , very common.
Not on a slant six.
